If you think sitting around on a bench is fun..think again

Pros – If you're in Consulting it is a bit alright as you might get to travel a fair bit within the US and Europe. Possible even India. If you're working in India, the company has sprawling campuses for employees to work in. The campuses have a wide range of facilities from gyms to squash courts and even a cricket pitch in some places.
Cons – When you join as a software engineer you are worked way too hard and not paid any overtime benefits either. On the other hand you could be placed on 'bench' i.e a reserve resource for the company and do nothing with your time. This can get very frustrating as i have personally been on bench for a while and trying to get my managers to give me some work to do but in vain. Now i understand that some people might be thinking this would be the ideal job of getting paid and not doing much work but trust me, you dont want to be sitting out there at the start of your career and wasting time away waiting to be given work!
